Welcome to the world of New Zealand writer, Jude Thomas.
The notion of family scandals and social skullduggery has always interested Jude, and there is plenty of this in her first full length novel, Southern Gold. Set in her home town Dunedin during the 1860’s gold rush era, she discovered a treasure trove of pioneer history and intrigue during her research. Southern Gold is due to be published in December 2016.
A sequel, set in the same city during the dawn of the 20th century, is planned for 2018. Fool’s Gold will see waves of political, educational and social developments. Politicians will create mayhem, refugees will be ostracised, and women will achieve the right to vote.
She says, ‘After travelling, raising my family and working in the design industry, I’m now content to leave that all behind. I’ve settled on the beautiful Mahurangi Peninsula north of Auckland, and enjoy the lifestyle and community life of the Matakana Coast Wine Country.’
Jude is a member of the NZ Society of Authors. She is also a member of International Writers’ Workshop NZ Inc. and is the current editor of its monthly newsletter. She finds this a great way to learn, share and be inspired.
